Each of the Xtreme 1 collection watches are 45mm wide, but the SEA-HUM 3TZ is thinner and has (only) 500m of water resistance. It goes up to 1,500 or 2,000 meters of resistance respectively. Here are the basic stats for the T3Z:
The Jaeger-LeCoultre designed and manufactures Caliber 781 and 780 movements are very impressive. Most of the bridges are in black and the design of the movement is very modern. No more superman watches, with super vintage looking movements inside. Jaeger-LeCoultre knows how to keep mechanical fresh. The movement has a 60 hour power reserve, and some impressive specs that you can learn about below. It also has a ton of functions. Aside from the time (with a subsidiary seconds dial that double as the chronograph hour indicator), it has a 24 hour chronograph with digital minute counter, centrally placed GMT hand, date, and unique peripheral power reserve indicator. The crown also features a unique function selector. The crown is not pulled out, but rather has a built in pusher than controls one of three functions (winding, GMT adjustment, time adjustment). Pushing the button in the crown cycles between the three, and you always know what you are doing because there is a crown function indicator on the dial dear the date window at 3 o'clock.

Now things get interesting with sapphire... the dial is sapphire as well. Black colored sapphire with three levels of superimposed elements on it. It should have glass-like finish to it, without too much glare, and the white numerals and hour indicators should "pop" really nicely. Hints of red color add to the sporty appeal. In addition to elements from other Bulgari designs, and Hublot, there is a little bit of Richard Mille influence in the mix.I have a feeling the dial will turn out to be quite great looking.

That said, the watch itself is pretty nice looking. I'm not fond of the Rolex-style cyclops over the date, though some quite like them [Ed. note. You'll see some hands-on images I took with watch here. I believe that the magnifier crystal is actually reverse mounted (inside the crystal) so as not to stick out of the crystal]. The fixed bezel is less useful than a rotating one, but on the other hand it's filled with luminescent paint for a cool look in the dark. The textured and detailed dial has good balance and attains the not-too-busy look a good dress watch. The dark green GMT hand lurks in the visual background, behind mirror-polished hour and minute hands and the signature second hand with Ball logo counterpoise. Overall a good looking watch, with the bulked-up look Ball produces.
Tissot has a goal to always be associated with the racing circuit in America. Other brands follow things like Formula One and other types of motor sports that people in the US don't really pay attention to. Tissot has been partnered with NASCAR (click here to read about their Danica Patrick watch), showing that it was quite interested to align itself with racing events that Americans might actually be interested it. In watch world gospel, "to be associated with popular sport, is to enjoy increased sales." In the same spirit, here is the newest version of the Tissot T-Race Nicky Hayden watch for 2010. The latest limited edition piece for the star motorcycle racer.
Though this watch is built to take the punishment of sea and salt, Audemars Piguet put their premier in-house calibre 3120 inside, making this a very luxurious piece of diving equipment. It’s really a pity that you don’t get to see the beautiful swoops, curves and hand finishing that went into this automatic movement. In order to maintain water resistance, dive watches of necessity need a solid case back. Still, it’s not surprising that a classy operation like Audemars Piguet didn’t budge on their standards because they know what ticks inside–and so will you.Read more ›
At its debut, the Calibre 101 set the record for the world’s smallest movement and 81 years later in 2010, it still holds this honor [Ed. Note: check out another article here discussing the life of the Calibre 101 movement]. When you think about all the patents and record-breaking feats announced every year in the world of horology, holding this distinction for such a long time is even more remarkable.
I mentioned my now deceased umbrella for a reason — rather than to merely lament its inglorious demise. It allowed me to appreciate the benefit of a tool meant to last. Sure the umbrella performed amicably most of the time, but it just took one unexpected instance for it to fail me, and leave me less than dry. What will happen to David out in the sea if his tools fail him? Even if they are suitable for 98% of all occurrences, that still leaves open dangerous contingencies. I am starting to understand why IWC likes to test themselves by partnering with such “perfect examples.” The special, limited edition of 1000 pieces IWC Ingenieur Automatic Mission Earth Edition Adventure Ecology watches will be worn by the crew and will stand up to anything that the Plastiki crew faces. IWC has yet another chance to prove the rugged reliability (and in my opinion dashing good looks) of its Ingenieur watches. Facts and figures on paper, as well as clean looking marketing photo’s don’t communicate this point. Only action can do that. Aside from some cosmetic changes and a specially made and engraved caseback, the blue and orange watch is the Ingenieur that anyone can get. David was proudly wearing his the entire time. A watch guy like me, I appreciated his ability to point out some of the finer details of the watch and how it would help him on the voyage. He also adeptly summed up the piece by emphatically pointing out, “and it is just really cool.” The colorful design looked appropriate with his unique wardrobe that included colorful socks that he tucked his pant legs into. I appreciated that both he and I in our own unique ways are unapologetic eccentrics.

For more details (and other images) on the beautiful AP Royal Oak Offshore Diver, you can click there to see a previous post with images taken by me, and text by Meehna Goldsmith. There you will learn all the technical details you may need. I believe the price of the watch is about ,000. I am quite enamored with this piece. 42mm wide steel case, cool finishing, easy to read AP Offshore style dial, 300 meters water resistant, beautifully functioning inner rotating diver's bezel, and an incredible high-quality rubber strap. It is a killer dive watch, and you WILL want one (if you can afford one). You can see me here wearing the watch around on the boat ("I'm on a boat!"), and if you agree, the watch works (and looks) quite well in this environment. I felt like I was experiencing what the designer of the watch was experiencing when the idea for the timepiece design was conceived. So if you find yourself on a boat... then this Audemars Piguet timepiece will fit the bill with ease.

The other new feature of the PAG-240 is the dual-layer LCD, what Casio is calling 'duplex.' Above the normal dial is one of radial segments, which Casio uses for several features. Obviously, it's used to show the compass major axes:
The unveiling event included the three men responsible for the content in the book. Though in reality, IWC as a whole deserves a pat on the back for getting the book done. Manfred, Paulo, and Enki are three totally different types of men, and IWC likely has some amusing stories involving the trio collaborating on the book. In fact, the event itself was the first time that the three men ever met each other. Prior to that, all the work was done remotely and via IWC as a conduit. The German, the Frenchman, and the Brazilian each added something interesting to the history book, above and beyond what IWC would have created if it was an entirely in-house effort.

If you look closely that the new Bulgari watch in comparison to the older model you can tell that the design differences are minor. Most notable is the ceramic bezel with its "bolts," dial changes, and the new strap. The new strap is my favorite part actually. It is a textured rubber done in a segmented style, with a steel folding clasp. The dial design has taken a less art deco theme, and is more Bulgari in tone, but still feels very much the same. Even the hands are the same. I expect future models to stray a bit more from the Gerald Genta classic.
One of the coolest watches of the last few years didn't see its proper level of greatness because it was too expensive. At over 0,000 (retailed at about 78,000 euros) the Porsche Design Indicator remained a beautiful and fundamentally superior design that you could only appreciate from a distance. Eterna, who makes all the watches for Porsche Design, still makes 2-4 of the Indicator watches per a year, but on request only. The watch is limited to 50 pieces, so eventually they will be all out. Let's take a quick peak at this watch. You can also get them online, with a few available costing in the 0,000 range. Original retail was at least ,000 more than that.Read more ›
Praesto offers the watch as a limited edition of 100 pieces for each style (total of 300 pieces). It comes with a branded cleaning cloth and nice roll pouch. There really isn't much like it out there and I think it is a great first exploit for the designer. I have a feeling that he will be responsible for additional interesting watches in the future. He will also likely work with Praesto on future watches as the brand matures. Price for this Modern Fliegeruhr is 0, and for the PVD coated version it is 7.
While the Spin Time GMT watch isn't a limited edition piece, it will be highly limited in production. You will likely only be able to get them in special Louis Vuitton boutiques in select cities, and they make sure not to produce that many. Price is quite high for a Tambour line watch, though to help justify that, the cases are in gold. The case for the men's model is 44mm wide in 18k white gold priced at ,000. The ladies also get a model that is even more expensive and smaller at 39.5mm wide. It is also in 18k white gold, but this time with diamonds - and goes for a whopping ,500.Read more ›
